A4BLiP has a working group dedicated to supporting community-based archival collections. This group seeks opportunities to advise organizations serving Black communities on archival and records management questions, and also provides direct assistance, such as by processing archival collections.
On March 31, 2018 and May 4, 2018, approximately one dozen A4BLiP members gathered at the William Way LGBT Community Center to process the papers of Rasheedah Phillips, a Philadelphia-based public interest lawyer, author, and community activist. The papers, which will be made available at the headquarters of the Brewerytown/Sharswood Community Civic Association (BSCCA), document Phillips’s work with the BSCCA as well as the Black Quantum Futurism Collective (BQF), and the Community Futures Lab.
The finding aid is currently under review. We hope to publish it here soon.
