A4BLiP has a working group dedicated to supporting community-based archival collections. This group seeks opportunities to advise organizations serving Black communities on archival and records management questions, and also provides direct assistance, such as by processing archival collections.
On September 8, 2018, A4BLiP members gathered for an archive-a-thon at the offices of Media Mobilizing Project (MMP), an organization that partners with grassroots activist roots to document their activities and use video to advance their causes, and which has a large audiovisual archives. To this point, A4BLiP members have assisted with reviewing a (successful!) MMP grant proposal to CLIR, metadata cleanup, and digital preservation guidance.
